The Adventures In Writerland

The launch of The Mechanic's Institute Review, (or 'MIR', as the hip kids call it) didn't just result in the surprise party for Fran. There was also an official launch party on the Thursday, and a group 'Job Done' party on Sunday. Luckily, being the Official Appendage of Fran 2005, I was brought along to both events to schmooze.

Despite getting off to a egomaniacal start - "Are you a writer?" "No, I'm here as eye-candy." - the literati accepted me into their collective bosom, furnished me with free drink, and even consented to sign my book in all the right places. One highlight was when Harry:

[Harry]

...read out his story from the anthology. Harry's a very cool guy & an entertaining storyteller, and his reading on Thursday night showed he can really put the two together in front of a crowd. His reading was a great performance, and I thank him for thoroughly researching the rock bottom of the world's Thai whores, so that I don't have to. [smile]

You can see the photos from both events over here, as Fran's just got herself a flickr account1. Look out particularly for the people that were trying to do an Obi-Wan with their fake graduation gowns...

1 Guess who set it up for her?
