Alexical metrophobia (n). Fear of being stuck on the tube without anything to read.
“This man’s having an attack of alexical metrophobia – I need 25cc’s of Dan Brown, stat!”
Neonym (n). A word coined expressly for the purpose of sounding ‘new’, esp. by marketing people.
“‘Firewall’? Pah! That’s just a neonym for network packet filter.”
Trigenariaphobia (n). Fear of turning 30.
What's a fear of phobias called?
It's worth noting that neonym is itself a neonym...
Thesecretofnym
That's another.
Or is that, 'Mrsfrisbyandtheratsofnym'? Means pretty much the same thing.
Nymnymnymnymnymnymnym
That's not one.
No, but how about, "nymnym - something that sounds like it ought to be a word, e.g., 'Frambly'."
You've obviously never heard of that famous movie quote, "Frambly, my dear, I don't give a damnym." From 'Gonenym With The Windnym'. Nym. Nym. Nym. Nymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnymnym!
I'd say, "Ignore him - it's Friday", but in James' job it's always Friday, so there's no excuse.
Phobophobia. And a love of phobias is phobophilia, but neither of those are neologisms.
How about a love of fearing phobias?
Phoboschmobo (n). The certainty that we've flogged this one to death, James.
You know what been meaning to track you all down for a long time...Kris, Jared, Fran et al. You managed to escape for a while...but I found you!!! Unfortunately, my old mobile phones launched a mass conspiracy against me, and decided to delete some of my fave phone numbers ;o( Anyways, I had a feeling you techy geeks would have your own websites so did a bit of searching.
Well, don't want to bore everyone who reads this website, so send me an e-mail and hopefully will catch up in the not too distant future.
Love and hugs
Suse xx
Henry: Is that you, Nym?
