I Want...

I want to change my surname to 'Splang'. "Kris Splang" has a rather snappy finish to it. And who would forget the day they met, "Splang. Mr Splang"? 'twould go down well in the Asian market, too.

Not sure about "Café de Splangster", though...

That's pretty much perfect, though there's a place for "Fran Dandeliver" in my world.

Perhaps your regular patrons could come up with some other suggestions for you to choose from? Can I start the bidding with 'Tingle'?

Fantastic idea - if there are enough good suggestions we'll run a strawpoll to pick the favourite!

Not sure about 'Tingle' though - it's a bit CofE for my liking.

I suggest 'Mastimemistletoeandwinechildrensingingchristianrhymeswithlogsonthefireandgiftsonthetreeatimetorejoiceinthegoodthatweseeitsatimeforgivingatimeforgettingatimeforforgivingandatimeforforgettingohicantbebotheredtypingthisoutanymore'

Or 'Pandeevan'

Or 'Kros'

I'm surprised no one called James Casey has mentioned 'Kringle' or 'Kristofferson'

'Pandeevan' I like. It sounds kind of devilish. [grin]

How 'bout "Anthemum"?

Enough. I have 'work' to do...

I thought Kristofferson was too obvious...
And there were only 5 posts when I started typing that last comment...

How about "Khan-KhanYou"?

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 11:43.

Good one. How about 'Beeblebrox'?

Submitted by James Casey (not verified) on Fri, 2004-10-08 11:47.

Packet?

Good one, Clara.

JD's suggestion would be particularly good if I were a doctor:

Nurse #1: Who's on ward five tonight?
Nurse #2: Erm. <reads clipboard>...Tuesday...five...Ah. "On-ward: Kris Tainsoldiers."

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 12:28.

Kris MasIsland?

Or

Kris MasPudding?

Or

Kris Tocentric?

Or

Kris Salis?

Or

Kris Tology?

Or

Kris Hna?

Or

Kris Tallnacht?

So many possibilities.

How about 'Topia'?

Though I should probably save that for when I become Emperor.

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 12:52.

Talball

Tening-Robe?

The double-barrelled ones are my favourites so far. [smile]

How about 'Tal-Pools'?

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 13:29.

If you want double barrelled, then perhaps I could offer Taltipsan-Dalistair?

Submitted by Dragon Mama (not verified) on Fri, 2004-10-08 13:44.

Just seen the stream of comments.

My votes go with Dragon-Mama's Packet and Talball. And Pandeevan's pretty cool.

But of course if I was ever going to consider taking Kris' surname, I could only go for Tastic.

I think that's a billion points to DragonMama there.

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 13:48.

Come on, Fran, surely YOU would have to have "Klymydear" as your surname?

Submitted by Dragon Mama (not verified) on Fri, 2004-10-08 14:13.

I've got it - I'll change my surname to 'Taltips' if Fran changes hers to 'Dalistair'.

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 14:34.

Frantastic!

Submitted by Dragon Mama (not verified) on Fri, 2004-10-08 16:02.

Klymydear is great but reminds too much of that disease women get.

I don't get Taltips or Dalistair but it is the end of a very busy week so I get good excuse points.

I think it's worth having a whip-round at this stage. We could pay JD to legally change his surname to 'Dane James Dane'.

Submitted by Kris on Fri, 2004-10-08 16:44.

Sorry to join this discussion at such a late stage, but have you consulted:

% grep -i "^[kc]h\?r[iy][sz]" /usr/share/dict/words

?

Trust paj to go all techy on us and kill the thread...

You could say that the thread has Petered out.

Sorry.

Submitted by JD (not verified) on Sat, 2004-10-09 21:43.

Surely, Mr Johns, surely:

% grep -i '^(k|ch)r[iy][sz]' /usr/share/dict/words

???

Submitted by Kris on Sun, 2004-10-10 14:37.

According to my words file, "Christianizations"[sic] is a word. Not so sure about that...
