K800i & Mac iSync

Here’s one of those things you post so that Google will pick it up and share the knowledge:

I had problems last night trying to sync the phonebook between my K800i phone and my Mac. Searching around, I found plenty of links out there that say you need a special plugin, but that’s old news. The latest version of iSync¹ recognises the phone with no problems.

However, it still wouldn’t work. Every time I tried to sync the two it said it was working, but nothing happened. It turned out the solution was very simple: iSync doesn’t recognise the contacts when they’re stored on the SIM. I switched over to storing the contacts on the phone² and everything suddenly started working.

¹ 2.4 at the time of writing.

² It’s in the phone preferences, and when you change it will automatically copy the contacts across from the SIM to the phone memory.
