iPhone vs Android - Quick UX Fact

Number of button pressed need to update all applications:

iPhone: 4 + Password

Android: 2 + ( 4 * number of apps )

I mention this because by co-incidence, both of my phones had exactly 7 apps that needed updating this morning. That’s 4 (+ password) vs 30 taps. Not to mention that Android litters the path with warning after warning.

Android’s ace, but the war won’t be won on multi-tasking and openness. It won’t be won on geek appeal. It’ll be won on whether or not my Mum can use the thing without being baffled.

Why do you have to do it for every app?

Can you explain for a non-android user? :)

An “Update All” button is rumoured to be coming in the next release of Android. Until then, it’s “Choose App->Review Release Notes->Accept Upgrade Warning->Accept Permissions Warning” for every app, individually. :-/
