Go Ahead, Make Yourself Useless

I'm troubled by today's news that new Gay Rights laws face opposition by religious groups. My initial reaction is, "Yes, if you're a hotel owner you have a right to refuse custom from anyone you choose. Gay, straight, unwed or just too beardy, you have a right to turn them away. You also have a right to go out of business you biggoted twunt."

Equally, teachers have a right to refuse to teach certain views, just as anyone has the right to make themselves unfit for their job. A programmer has the right to refuse to type the letter 'X', but they shouldn't moan when they get fired.

I should look into this legislation properly1 and see what's actually being proposed, but my knee-jerk reaction is, don't restrict people's freedom to keep themselves in the dark ages - just fire the basastards and be done with it.

1 Yeah, that's the quality of the journalism here. Sorry. Have a muffin.

You missed out Chavs.

If you want to keep the chavs out, you just need to decorate the place well. They have a natural aversion to taste.
