We did quite well playing the Nottingham scene

I remember an outdoor gig with you all on a big stage in the park. Kris and two other good friends were in this band. It was more than 'quite agreeable', I recall that they were all very good performers.

Newsflash: I didn't want to blog this until it became official, but Upstream, the band I was in at university, is getting together for a comeback gig.

Well, sadly not all of Upstream, but those of us who can be found at short notice are getting together to play a gig at the end of this month, in St. Albans.

For those of you who've never heard, or heard of Upstream, we were a 10-piece band in the style of The Commitments and The Blues Brothers. I played guitar, and I didn't sing, and that was a combination that people have generally found quite agreeable.

We did quite well playing the Nottingham scene - very well if you count in cash before dividing by 10 - and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. One of the most fun, too.

Our biggest claim to fame over the years was that for one gig we had Danni Minogue as a support act¹. Those were the rock and roll years, my friends...

The rehearsal's next weekend - wish us luck, as we could be a little rusty after five years...

¹ Well, that might be overstating it. She was the headline act, and we were playing out the last of the Late Liquor Licence, but she did play before us, so she was the support act in my book.
