Oh, and another fast word about a subject of increasing ambiguity in the modern times - public decency.

Were I sort to encourage a boycott, I would after this weekend. In the wake of the death of Myra Hindley, a spate of newspapers (notably the News of the World & The Mail) tolled out the ol' warhorse, "Dyin' ain't good enough for 'er."

Yes, she was one of the most deplorable criminals of the century. And okay, if you think that there's no redemption, no reform and no forgiveness for such an act in her lifetime...well...that's a long debate. Maybe you're right, maybe there's a glimmer of hope for everyone.

But it goes too far when a media company splashes headlines saying that her "peaceful death" was a "final insult to justice", just to sell more papers. I feel sick for the state of our country. Vengance is one thing; saddening, but understandable. Encouraging vengance down to the grave, just to line your pockets, is cold-blooded, premeditated and ultimately evil.
